Short story my rent is $600/mo and I was going half w my mom but she has extremely limited funds bc of the shutdown so now I have to cover the $600 myself plus my phone bill, life insurance, Internet, and electricity which comes out to around another $120 and right now my regular income is around $500 w dwindling savings.
I already have the entirety of my subsidized loans pulled out at school so my only other option would be pulling out unsubsidized which will kinda hashtag suck!

unleashed what’s become his presidential hallmark: a bizarre, winding,
threatening press conference, this time following his White House
meeting with Democratic leaders Friday to try to break the impasse
causing the government shutdown.
In a long, meandering briefing
in the Rose Garden, Trump told reporters the partial shutdown now
heading into its third week could go on for months, even years, if
Democrats don’t give him the $5.6 billion he’s demanding to build a
U.S.-Mexico border wall. The Democrats have steadfastly refused. The
shutdown has affected some 800,000 federal workers — 420,000 of them forced to work without pay — since Dec. 22.
“This is national security we’re talking about,” Trump said. “We’re not talking about games.“
When asked if there was any “safety net” for workers going without pay as the shutdown continues, Trump responded: “The safety net is going to be having a strong border.”
Trump
also floated another way he could get his wall: declaring a state of
national emergency over border security to build it without
congressional approval.

Jewish and Muslim people go on Chopped and are made to cook with pork and they make it work, one vegan goes on and refuses to use any meat products he’s given and they have an all veggie episode for him.

My mum was watching a baking show where a 20 year old Muslim woman was a contestant. They had to make an alcoholic dessert. She nailed it despite not being able to taste it. When she mentioned that she couldnt (not as a complaint or excuse) everyone gawked at her and someone said “how old are you???”. Like, really?
I saw that one! Seemed like purposeful sabotage when your contestant can neither religiously or legally taste the ingredient
